Looking Ahead for 2026
What's in store for this newsletter this year
Perhaps because it’s the new year, but I’ve been reflecting on an existential question: “What is the point of a newsletter if there’s no news?” As I’ve often mentioned, I’ve been taking a break from writing, so that means I don’t have a book coming out this year (and possibly next year too). So, what does that mean for this newsletter with a small but dedicated readership?
I feel kind of silly talking about the same discourse topics, the same books (i.e. my books) over and over again. So, what you’ll expect from my newsletter this year are the following:
The few event updates I have this year (see below)
Interviews with author friends who are coming out with a book this year (for any author friends who have books coming out this year, don’t worry. You will probably get an email from me soon enough.)
Maybe some writing updates (I’m manifesting here)
So, while I won’t be in your inbox a lot, I hope you look forward to hearing about new books that I’m also excited to read.
UPCOMING EVENT: HAPPILY EVER AFTER ROMANCE PANEL AT MONTEREY PARK BRUGGEMEYER LIBRARY
I am so thrilled to be a part of the Happily Ever After Romance Panel for the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library. If you’ve been following me from the very, very beginning, then you may know that my very first author event was a remote panel with the Monterey Park Library. I had the audacity to pitch myself for this panel even before The Donut Trap was released.
This was 4 years ago! So much has changed since then, like that wall color and the part in my hair! Anyway, I’m so glad to finally be there in-person, along with Jayci Lee and Jeannie Choe. Dym books and boba will also be there to sell books and every purchase will include a free boba sample. If you’re in the area, please register for the event by calling the library at (626) 307-1368 during their regular hours.
one more thing or tieu
What I’m Watching: Culinary Class Wars, season 2 (Netflix), Shine on Me (cdrama, Netflix). I just finished watching the movie adaptation of People We Meet On Vacation and I thought it was cute! Obviously, it doesn’t fully capture the book, but I thought it was a fun watch. I hope for many more romcoms to make it to the screen.
What I’m Reading: I am in between a couple books right now. Today, I picked up Throwback by Maurene Goo, which is a YA Time-Travel book where the protaganist accidentally travels back to gasp 1995 and meets her mother at 17 years old.
Places I Hope to Visit When the Hype Dies Down: Miopane (Pasadena) for Taiwanese bagels, Salted Butter (Pasadena) for pastries. This is basically my interary for my next trip to Pasadena. All carbs or bust!
That’s it for now. Stay tuned for next month’s newsletter, with our first author interview of 2026.

Excited to see what you do with the newsletter this year! Just because you don't have a new release to market doesn't mean we don't want to hear what's up!
Always happy to have you in my inbox!! Funnily enough, I met up with an old friend from high school today and I was telling her all about THE GIRL MOST LIKELY TO and how nostalgic it made me for those days of AOL IMing, everything feeling like life or death, all the music we listened to back then, etc. Still one of my favorite romances!
